Rockies’ Nightly Struggles Continue

The Rockies’ evening was marked by both triumph and disappointment. The team managed to score a run, their first in three days, but ultimately fell short in their pursuit of a win, losing 5-3 to the Dodgers. This game showcased the team’s struggles with pitching and hitting.

Senza’s Struggles

Antonio Senzatela was not sharp tonight, giving up a leadoff single to Shohei Ohtani and then a first-pitch home run to Mookie Betts, putting the Dodgers up 2-0 early.

He struggled throughout the game, allowing nine hits, four runs, and two home runs in 4 1⁄3 innings. Senzatela’s final line included one walk, one strikeout, and a lack of control, making it a tough outing for the pitcher. The Rockies’ pitching staff has been struggling lately, and tonight’s game was no exception. Senzatela’s inability to prevent the Dodgers from scoring early on, coupled with the team’s failure to capitalize on scoring opportunities, ultimately led to the loss.

  • Some notable struggles from Senzatela included giving up a double to Mookie Betts in the fifth inning.
  • A ground out, a double, a single, and a double play in the third inning also contributed to the Dodgers’ early lead.

A Glimmer of Hope

Despite the struggles, the Rockies managed to score a run in the fifth inning, setting a new record for consecutive innings without scoring a run (33). This was made possible by Nick Martini, who hit a single that became the Rockies’ only baserunner of the night. However, the team’s inability to build on this momentum ultimately led to their downfall.

  1. Nick Martini went 2-for-4 with a run, becoming the Rockies’ third baserunner of the night.
  2. Kyle Farmer took being called “Karl” by the Dodgers’ PA announcer personally, and hit a standup double to knock in Martini, shaking up the game.

A Rare Silver Lining

The Rockies’ scoring streak, which had gone without a run in three days, finally came to an end, albeit in a somewhat unexpected way. Hunter Goodman’s solo home run in the seventh inning brought the Rockies within striking distance, but ultimately fell short.

Player Inning Hit/Run
Hunter Goodman 7th Home Run
Mickey Moniak 7th Singled to center field

Looking Ahead

The Rockies will look to bounce back tomorrow against the Dodgers. Ryan Feltner will take the mound against Dodgers’ right-hander Landon Knack. First pitch is at 8:10pm MT. Despite the struggles, the team remains hopeful that they can turn things around and get back on track.
